Neil deGrasse Tyson, everyone’s favorite astrophysicist and dark-horse Presidential candidate apparently noticed that the night-sky at the end of Titanic is not only the wrong sky for the time/place of the Titanic wreck, but is also repeated (the Eastern half is the same as the Western half). He wrote to Cameron and didn’t get a response until they were at a dinner together – to which James Cameron responded:
“Last I checked, Titanic world wide has grossed 1.3 billion dollars. Imagine how much it would have grossed had I gotten the sky correct.”
While that seems just a tad cocky, he has evidently fixed the sky for the upcoming re-release. Tyson 2012!
