I am a big fan of James Fallows’ series of articles on False Equivalance and the “28th Amendment”, but I had to nitpick this article on the Chevy Volt:

It would interesting to do the math on what the American economy would look like if the Volt were taken to scale.  One thing’s for sure, we’d have much less need for the Sixth Fleet.

First of all, the Sixth Fleet is in the Mediterranean – not really where the oil comes from, and rarely staffed with more than a few ships (Libya excepting). The FIFTH Fleet is in the Middle East and is the one he’s talking about. Second of all, there’s a lot of question whether or not the Chevy Volt COULD be taken to scale – the metals used to build the batteries would very rapidly go into short supply.

On a more serious not, I do agree with his previous article arguing that the Volt is not some arch-conspiracy by Obama and the far-left – it was conceived by Chevy executive Bob Lutz, and the tax credit for the vehicle was approved during the Bush Administration.
